There's good news for classic car owners in George Osbourne's 2013 budget. From April 2014, the exemption from VED (road tax) will be extended to 1974. And that means all cars manufactured in 1973 - previously liable for the annual tax - will now qualify for the exemption. Could be better but considering the state of the nation's finances a nice surprise. I do believe the Conservatives said they would revive the 25 year rule - then they got to read the Treasury balance sheets!!!
Also, SORNs will no longer be annual, but indefinite, which makes sense. Cuts out unnecessary bureaucracy. | |
