Forum appears to have gone quiet again...... just because it's gloomy and cold out there doesn't mean we shouldn't be keeping our passions alive on the forum......

A post a day, keeps the forum in play!

Either: -

You and I are the only people left on the planet,

Everybody is sat by the fire trying to warm up after being outside in the cold working on their Mini,

Everybody is out buying yours and my Christmas presents,

To post on the forum is a thing of great delight

but you have to be careful that your posts are all right.

If you’re not very careful you fill them with crap

and then the moderator is on your case and gives you a slap.

The trouble with the winter when its cold and dark outside

is we all stay indoors and from the rain and wind hide.

Nothing much is happening and and there's little to say

so we all end up silent coz we've not been out to play.

Once it is Springtime and the sun is once more shining

we dust off our motors and attend those shows for which we've been pining.

Travelling the country meeting like minded folk

marvelling at all things Mini even the Moke.

So bear with us Rob and Jan, its not a crime

and we’ll soon be back on the forum posting time after time.

Mod’s we’ve done over the winter will all come to light

and fellow Mini enthusiasts will be filled with delight.

Superb Poem Gary..... This is a thing of substance,

I have to admit

And it has to be said for once,

Not in the vain of the usual forum shit.

It is events and outings that we have been missing

for stories to talk about,

although outside, down.... the rain has been pissing

There has been nothing over which to scream or shout

O'er to the mill o'frogs we ought to go,

if it weren't for the salt n grime on the road,

Doors we have not on the Moke, so...

If we come, it may be by other mode

Me thinks that should I be asked to blow

Down a tube or similar police spiel

The indicator in the red would go

So the boss of the household may have to take the wheel

So should I arrive all bleary eyed,

have sympathy with I

The alcohol, me brain has tried

So in the new year, I'll have to come back down from that high

So full of good intent we will go

In the doorless moke

To attend all sorts of classic car show

And talk with like minded folk

Happy New Year to all......

Jan

I must go down to the Trout again

to the wonderful food and beer

I left my classic Mini there

I wonder if it's still in gear.

With words like poke, choke, stoke rhyming with Moke, I'd better abstain from writing when under the influence.... Limericks will be next..

There once was a dirty old Moker,

Who was always a bit of a joker

The oven he did stoke,

Tried to give it a poke,

But on second thoughts.... better just stroker

With respect to The Bard

1. What's in a name? That which we call a Mini. By any other name would smell as sweet

2. The Mini doth protest too much

3. If Minis be the food of love, drive on

4. All the world's a stage for the Mini

5. To be A or A+, or not to be A series at all. That is the question

6. There are Mini things in heaven and earth, Horatio

7. To sleep, perchance to dream of Minis

8. O Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art my Mini Romeo?

9. Now is the winter of our discontent made glorious summer by this Mini

10. What a piece of work is a Mini

11. Love looks not with the eyes but with the mind of a Mini owner

12. Something is rotten in the state of Germany

13. Out, damned BMW

14. Et tu, BMW?

15. The Mini's the thing

16. Frailty, thy name is aged Mini

17. What light through yonder windscreen breaks?

18. The course of true Mini ownership never did run smooth

19. Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your Minis

20. Alas, poor Alec

21. The world's mine Mini

22. Off with his head! A decoke to perform

23. Hath not a Mini eyes?

24. I go, and it is done; the Mini invites me

25. Is this a Mini which I see before me

26. Come, let's away to Longbridge; We two alone will sing

27. Get thee to a Mini meet

28. A Moke, a Moke! My kingdom for a Moke!

29. Give me my strobe, put on my crown wheel and pinion

30. When Minis die there are no comets seen

31. How poor are they that have not Minis!

Richard the third Mini - a poem by Bill Spokeshave.

Now is the winter of our discontent

Made glorious summer by this Son of Alec;

And all the clouds that lour'd upon our garage

In the deep bosom of the workshop buried.

Now are our Minis bound with victorious wreaths;

Our bruised arms hung up for monuments;

Our stern alarums changed to merry meetings,

Our dreadful ministrations to delightful measures.

Grim-visaged maintenance hath smooth'd his wrinkled front;

And now, instead of mounting rusty steeds

To fright the souls of fearful road users,

He capers nimbly in a restored chamber

To the lascivious pleasing of an RC40.

But others, that trade on the name, that am not shaped for sportive tricks,

Nor made to court an amorous looking-glass;

Others, that am rudely stamp'd, and want love's majesty

To strut before a wanton ambling enthusiast;

Others, that am curtail'd of this fair proportion,

Cheated of feature by dissembling designers,

Deformed, unfinish'd, sent before their time

Into this breathing world, scarce half made up,

And that so lamely and unfashionable

That dogs bark at them as they halt by them;

Why, they, in this weak piping time of copycat design,

Have no delight to pass away the time,

Not even to spy their shadow in the sun

And descant on their own deformity:

And therefore, since they cannot prove a lover,

To entertain these fair well-spoken days,

I am determined to prove them a villain

And hate the idle pleasures of their days.

Plots have I laid, inductions dangerous,

By drunken prophecies, libels and dreams,

To set my brother Classic and the pretender

In deadly hate the one against the other:

And if Classic be as true and just

As they am subtle, false and treacherous,

This day should the pretender closely be mew'd up,

About a prophecy, which says that classic

Of Mini's heirs the murderer shall be.

Dive, thoughts, down to my soul: here

Ziegfreid comes.

Oooerrrrr they be long uns......

I was out for a drive in the Moke,

When someone shouted, You look like a joke,

So I stopped the car,

Pulled out my crow bar

And gave the fellow a firm and sharp poke

But he was drinking a can of Coke,

Which he swallowed and made him choke

So I wacked him on the back

And with a loud sort of crack

He coughed it up with an audible croak

So I said, now that can looks a bit broke

So i'll light a fire - look at the smoke

When the fire's a belter

We'll use it like a smelter

And in the smelter, the can we will stoke

I think I'll stop there..... getting a bit desparate

Yep, I guess we are a bit sad

This poetry is really quite bad

It's not a lotta cop,

So I guess we'd better stop,

Or we'll risk driving Rob mad....

In your court Gary:lol:
